Ash Harris is an important artist for our times. I feel privileged to share the stage with her every time we have a show together. She is a strong advocate for equality and social justice and has the words and deeds to back it up. On top of that, she is a phenomenal singer-songwriter with a one-in-a-million voice. Truly a can’t miss performer, when you get the chance. This was an incredible evening. I am lucky to have been a part of it. Thanks to Common Grace Coffee and Adam Jezewski for including us in your one-year anniversary celebration event!
2-10-2018 Plymouth Coffee Bean w/ Lu Fuki & Divine Providence
A lovely show tonight with Lu Fuki & Divine Providence. Some nights you can feel that not only is it a special night of music, but that there’s also a different electricity in the air. Lu Fuki & Divine Providence helped to make this one of those nights. There was a feeling of community and purpose, that together we can overcome some of the influences that seem determined to divide us and break us down. I loved this show.
Conor O’Neill’s Ann Arbor 2-8-2018
Fantastic show at Conor O’Neill’s. I was pleasantly surprised when Sara Gibson came through the door with her cello, and was even more surprised when she said yes to playing with me on some of my songs! We’d never played together before, but you wouldn’t have known it because to me, the songs have never sounded better. I’m currently in the studio at Rooftop Recording in Grand Blanc, MI, and Sara said that she would like to take part in that as well! All in all, a fabulous night of entertainment and musical connection. The audience was fantastic and I am always so appreciative to those who come out on these cold Michigan winter nights. Thank you all!
Songwriter Sunday 11-19-17 Cultivate Coffee
It’s interesting, this musical adventure I’ve been on. The people are the best part of it. Sunday, 11-19-2017 was no exception. The event was a “Behind the Music” songwriters show featuring Sophiyah E., Trey Priest, James Henes, and myself. We all had a chance to play a few songs and talk about our process of writing and get to the stories behind the songs. There were questions from audience members and I found the whole thing really fulfilling. Jenny Jones put the show together and really did a great job with making us feel like we are a part of a greater community. Sophiyah, Trey, and James were so good. Everyone really showed up and delivered fantastic performances. I even got to read an excerpt from Andee Reilly’s recent book Satisfaction. It features some of the lyrics to my song “California” in it and is part of the overall arc of the story. A very cool night and experience. Thank you to all who made it possible.
Black Fire Winery with Shannon Lee 11-11-17
What a fantastic night this was! A terrific audience, a great guest appearance from Peter Smith on guitar, and a beautiful set from Shannon and Peter to close out the show. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. And to cap it off, a sweet photo from Tom Sorensen. A fabulous evening!
